Chedoke-McMaster Stroke Assessment Workshop

October 26, 2023 @ 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

The Chedoke-McMaster Stroke Assessment (CMSA) is a reliable and valid measure used to assess physical impairment and disability in clients with stroke and other neurological impairment.  Canadian Best Practice Recommendations  identify the CMSA as an important tool for Stroke Rehabilitation Assessment.

This one-day workshop, funded by the Central South Stroke Network, has been designed to provide participants (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other health professionals) with the opportunity to learn to use the measure as a clinical or research assessment tool.

During the one-day workshop, the instructors use video and PowerPoint presentations and group discussion to educate the participants about the administrative and scoring guidelines of the Chedoke Assessment. Lectures include information about the measure’s development and psychometric properties, and clinical application.  At the end of the workshop, the scoring competency of the participants is tested.  All participants will receive written feedback via email regarding their performance on the test. All who attend will receive a certificate of participation, and those who wish to know if they met the requirements for scoring competency will receive that information. These letters will be distributed within three weeks after the workshop.

Maria Huijbregts, PT, PhD, and/or Pat Miller, PhD will be the instructors.

Please indicate your interest in this course by emailing Tina Vallentin, Regional Stroke Education and Data Coordinator, at vallent@hhsc.ca by September 29, 2023.
