Session Objectives:

  1. Understand the impact stroke can have on mental health of adult patients
  2. Identify key psychiatric issues that can emerge post-stroke, including depression, anxiety and others
  3. Discuss treatment strategies to promote optimal mental health with people who have experienced stroke

 

Dr. Gayla Tennen completed her residency in Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and pursued a Fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She practices Medical and Geriatric Psychiatry and runs the Stroke Psychiatry Clinic at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. In addition to her clinical work, she is involved in the education of residents and medical students, as well as research. Dr. Tennen is also a lecturer at the University of Toronto.
