Part 2 Aphasia Training for Health Professionals – a Virtual Workshop with Antonella Samson, S-LP
Please note → this workshop is intended for individuals who will complete Part 1 on May 26th
A two part interactive workshop providing general knowledge of communication barriers and impairments and training in the evidence-based techniques of Supported Conversation for Adults with Aphasia™ (SCA) . SCA™ methods help acknowledge and reveal the competence of individuals who “know more than they can say”. Health professionals working in stroke care will find this workshop valuable. This 2 part workshop is suitable for those who are new to SCA™ or as a refresher course.
This is a virtual event – a Zoom link will be provided before the event. This event is interactive, and therefore, a webcam and microphone are needed on your computer to participate.
Day 1 – May 26
1:00 pm – 2:15 pm – Introduction: Making the case for the use of SCA™- evidence-based methods to enhance your ability to communicate with clients with aphasia.
2:20 pm – 3:00 pm – Application of SCA™: Opportunities to practice methods used in the workshop through role-playing and group discussion on a virtual platform (via zoom).
Day 2 – June 2
1:00 pm – 2:05 pm – Application of SCA™: Conversations with clients with aphasia on a virtual platform (via zoom).
2:10 – 3:00 – Next steps: Using SCA™ in my workplace.
Participants are required to attend both sessions. Zoom links will be sent to registrants a few days before the sessions.
Please note → Online aphasia training is always available on the Aphasia Institute’s Community Hub and it is highly recommended that the online training is completed before participating in the “live” training sessions.
